Sinha writes to CM to expedite Kongthong-Sder road project

Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha on Monday has appraised Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on the delay in the construction of road from Kongthong village to Sder Village in East Khasi Hills. In a letter to Sangma, Sinha urged him to expedite  in the Kongthong-Sder road project.

While pointing out that after the initial survey for the project, there was “no substantive progress”, Sinha in the letter said,  “I made representation for construction of a road between Kongthong to Sder. I thank you for accepting this demand. Some initial survey has also been done. But no substantive progress took place. During Delhi’s visit, I discussed this and you promised that the work would start soon.”

He added, “I, therefore, humbly request you for its quick implementations.”

Besides Kongthong, Sinha also informed that he has also adopted Villages Sder, Mawmang and Mawsohmad in the East Khasi Hills and further said that he visited Mawmang on foot which almost 2 hours to and fro.

The Member of Parliament also  urged the state government to implement the project keeping in mind the plight of the local residents.

Under Saansad Gram Adarsh Yojana, Sinha has adopted Kongthong, a ‘whistling village’ in East Khasi Hills.
