Some Congress defectors looking for ‘Gharwapsi’ in Meghalaya: Claims AICC

Some of the Congress defectors are now looking for ‘Gharwapsi’. All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath on Thursday claimed that some of the leaders who left Congress earlier are now in touch with the Congress leadership for their return.

Talking to reporters at the sideline of the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress Convention at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, Chatrath claimed that with the changing political scenario post Karnataka polls, many PAN India Congress detectors are willing to return.

“It’s not the matter of Karnataka only, what I meant to say was PAN India. PAN India leaders who left us or who are not happy in other parties they wanted to join back,” the AICC leader said.

Refusing to name any individual, he informed that as and when the proposal comes from the MPCC President and henceforth it will be forwarded to the AICC and the decision will be taken accordingly.

Asked about the Congress defectors in Meghalaya, the AICC in Charge said, “Definitely some people are in touch.”

“Some of them I know, they called me, they must be calling other leaders also….so it is a process when people see in political system you start winning then they want to join you back, as far as this state is concern, the PCC president is in a better position to answer your questions,” he added.
