All Meghalaya SSA Non Teaching Staffs Association (AMSSANTSA) on Monday emphasized that the agitation will continue in a peaceful manner until they receive written communication from the government.
Talking to Mediapersons, AMSSANTSA President Jennyfer J Synrem said, “Now it is 70% improvement is there. We got the chance to present ourselves and it was to stick to the terms and conditions which are under the notification. We are really very happy.”
Asked if they will call off their ongoing agitation, she said, “No, no, we are we want a written communication in that for that reason we are not calling off the agitation as such we will continue, of course, but in peaceful manner, as we have said but let us get the written assurance from the government, which they have promised promise us in this week. And after which we will call off our agitation.”
Delighted with the state government’s approach, Synrem after meeting with Commissioner & Secretary Education Vijay Mantri has highlighted the rare opportunity for organizations to sit with higher authorities and discuss salary rationalization.
“We thank the Government of Meghalaya for setting this particular committee for rationalization of salary, I don’t think so other organizations would have got the chance to present their, the staff members will sit along with the higher ups and make the salary and form a committee. So this is a history that we have made, so that’s why we are happy with the committee,” the AMSSANTSA President said.
While expressing their satisfaction with the dialogue with the state Government, Synrem noted that the organization has not accepted the initial offer from the state government to enhance salaries by 25 percent, citing significant salary discrepancies among different levels of non-academic staff under SSA.
Synrem also mentioned that the Education Director has contacted the Union Education Ministry regarding the funding pattern of the scheme, which is based on a 90:10 ratio, so a proper communication with both the Centre and the state government is essential.
“We have been informed that Education director has already contacted ministry also regarding this matter and then he has already consulted with ministry regarding the funding pattern because since you know the scheme is 90 : 10 sharing pattern, so we have to talk with the centre and the state government so this in which they have taken the initiative,” she added.
