The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) is set to make a decision regarding the government’s proposal to delay the salary enhancement for SSA teachers. MSSASA President Aristotle C. Rymbai informed that a unanimous decision will be taken during the General Executive Council (GEC) meeting on September 21.
“We will unanimously decide on the next steps during the upcoming GEC meeting on September 21, based on the responses from the Director of School Education & Literacy (DSEL) and the State Project Director of SSA, Swapnil Tembe, regarding the salary enhancement and the regularization of SSA teachers’ services,” Rymbai stated.
Rymbai also mentioned that a delegation from MSSASA met with Tembe on September 10.
“During the meeting, Tembe informed us that he had received instructions from the Commissioner & Secretary of Education to temporarily hold off on the salary enhancement proposal,” he said.
In addition to the delay in salary enhancement, the Education Department is planning to present the issue of regularizing SSA teachers’ services to the cabinet for further discussion.
“The State Project Director also informed us that the department intends to bring the proposal for regularizing SSA teachers’ services to the cabinet,” Rymbai added.
