The state Health Department has reduced the testing fees of RT-PCR Test, TruNaat Test, and CBNAAT Test while the testing fees of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) remains unchanged.
Through a notification, the department informed that henceforth, the RT-PCR Test will cost Rs 1000 per person per test while the rate fixed for TruNaat Test is Rs 1500 and CBNAAT Test is Rs 3000.
However, the testing fees of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) remain Rs 500.
It may be mentioned that there is a demand from various quarters to reduce the testing fees. The state Government from 16th October begins its ‘Policy of Paid Testing.’
The notification further states “Those who belong to Below
Poverty Line (BPL) Households (Yellow & Pink NFSA Cardholders) on medical advice can avail the testing for free at any of the Government Facilities only. The testing slots shall be subject to availability. Testing in a Private Facility will be on a payment basis only.”
“All those who have been identified as High-Risk contact in the containment zones and those advised by the Health Department officials will be tested free of cost,” the notification says.
The new rates are applicable from 29th October 2020.
The State Government further clarified that any person (including
MHIS Cardholders) who desires to get tested with RTPCR/CBNAAT/TruNAT on their own without medical advice shall approach facilities for getting tested on payment of the relevant cost of the test. EOM
