State witnesses drop in COVID-19 active cases


Total cases- 13,340 

Active cases-283 

Recovered- 12,922 


 The state has witnessed a drop in the daily COVID-19 tally on Thursday. The detection of twelve new cases was one of the lowest in December even as more patients have recovered from the viral infection.

 This is the second time in December that the state has detected a low daily tally as the total number of active cases in the state stands at 283.

 Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said all the 12 new cases are detected from East Khasi Hills District alone.

Of the 28 patients who recovered from COVID-19, Dr War said 12 are from East Khasi Hills district, 09 from West Garo Hills,02 from East Jaintia Hills and 01 each from East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, Ri Bhoi District, South Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills. 

So far, the state has detected a total of 13,340 COVID-19 cases out of which 283 are active cases, 12,922 recovered and 135 deaths.

Dr War said the fatality rate due to COVID-19 as of Thursday is 1.01 percent.

“Till date, swab samples of 2,85,139 persons have been tested of which 2,71,799 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

 There are 75,911 entrants from outside the state.
