The opposition Meghalaya Trinamool Congress plans to have a specific kind of outlay and planned strategy for the upcoming Assembly election 2023. Sounding the poll bugle for the February 2023 Assembly elections, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Monday arrived in Shillong on her maiden visit to the state ahead of the 2023 Assembly polls.
She was welcomed by a sea of supporters and admirers at the Umroi Airport. Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by AITC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is visiting the state for the third time.
Banerjee, during her meetings with the party functionaries and other stakeholders is likely to announce some of its poll strategy.
Asked, the Opposition Chief Whip George B Lyngdoh told Meghalaya News 24, “People had enough of the government that keep promising and all the promises has been empty in the last four and half year, therefore we are coming with a specific kind of outlay, a plan and a strategy that will be beneficial for the people and it will be a promise that we as the leaders in the party under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee we will be unfolding tomorrow and tell the people of the state as where we want take them forward to. “
While stating that a lot of things will unfold, he said, the Chairperson of TMC will guide the state leaders in the way forward.
“This is very important visit for all of us, because the blessing of the chairperson of the TMC is very very important and her guidance and experience, specially the way the Government has served the people of Bengal , how the aspiration of the people is fulfilled in the past 15 years that is the lesson for us to learn and also teach us where to take our state to, considering the fact that we need more support for the citizen of the state,” Lyngdoh said.
In the coming days, the opposition TMC has planned power-packed rallies and visits of the party leadership.
After her arrival at the Umroi airport, AITC Legislature Party Leader and Leader of Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma said, “We’re very happy that the AITC Chairperson is here on her first-time visit. All the foot soldiers from the party from nooks and corners of the state have got their chance to meet the Chairperson. They will have an opportunity to have an audience with her in the meeting.”
On December 13 evening, she would be attending Pre-Christmas celebrations with children from different orphanages, Tribal Headmen from Khasi and Jaintia Hills, eminent members from the civil society and prominent influencers of Meghalaya based out of Shillong, at the Windermere Resort, Umpling, Shillong.
