Two more sitting legislators on Wednesday resigned as members of the 11th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly .
These include Jimmy D Sangma (Tikrikilla) and Marthon J Sangma (Mendipathar), who are both from the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC). These two resigned a day ahead of NPP General conference. These two legislators are expected to join the rulling NPP.
These two sitting legislators were denied ticket by All India Trinamool Congress which recently announced its first list of 52 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
The strength of the opposition AITC was further reduced to 9. Earlier, Mawsynram legislator Himalaya M Shangpliang had resigned and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
