Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, has assured that he will take up the issue of the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) with the central government to find the best possible solution.
Speaking to the media in Shillong, Dr. Choudhary committed to advocating for the matter at the highest levels. “Regarding ILP, I am trying. I will take it up at the upper level. What best solution can be achieved, we will discuss,” he stated.
During his visit, the Minister also praised Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage, highlighting the state’s unique landscapes and vibrant community. He emphasized that tourism plays a crucial role in Meghalaya’s economic growth and noted that the central government, in collaboration with the state, has launched several initiatives under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes to further develop the sector.
“These initiatives aim to develop tourism circuits, improve infrastructure at tourist sites, and promote Meghalaya as a premier eco-tourism destination,” Dr. Choudhary explained. “Our goal is to create sustainable tourism models that generate employment, uplift local communities, and preserve the cultural and natural heritage of the state.”
He also affirmed his commitment to furthering tourism development in Meghalaya, saying, “There is a lot of scope for tourism in Meghalaya. I will also take it up with the Centre. We will sit, and we will work towards the development in the tourism sector.”
