Weapons recovered from Wahumkhrah

The three INSAS RIFLES that was snatched by some unknown youths from police personnel on August 15 were finally recovered from Wahumkhrah on Monday.

The information about this was given earlier by an anonymous person in a letter.

On Friday, an anonymous letter was sent claiming that the seized weapons were thrown into the Umkhrah river from the Umpohliew Bridge.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai said that the three INSAS whcih were stolen from Mawkynroh-Umshing Outpost on August 15 have been recovered from Umkhrah by the Search & Rescue Team (SRT) of the Fire & Emergency Services and the East Khasi Hills district police.

He said the Meghalaya police also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Rangbah Shnongs of Mawlai Town Dorbar for their continuous support and to the youths who had taken the initiative to inform the police through the anonymous letter.

On August 15th, A Scorpio police vehicle belonging to Mawkynroh outpost were snatch by unidentified youths and weapons were brandished before setting it on fire at Jaiaw.
