Tura, Feb 18: In a move to enhance grassroots governance, the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills has reached out to residents through social media, inviting them to highlight villages or areas facing pressing issues.
Through an official post on the district’s Facebook page, Jagdish Chelani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner encouraged citizens to share concerns about difficulties in accessing public services and ongoing developmental challenges. He assured direct intervention and expressed his commitment to personally visiting the identified areas along with relevant department officials to address grievances.
“Need suggestions for areas/villages to visit. Any ongoing works or areas where residents are having difficulties in accessing services. Please recommend in the comments along with grievances you are facing. I’ll try and visit along with the department officials concerned, and we’ll try to address the issues,” the Deputy Commissioner stated.
Acknowledging a temporary lapse in online updates, he further added, “I haven’t been putting up many updates of ongoing events in the district, as I was unable to access Facebook for some time. My apologies to the persons who were looking forward to it on the page.”
The initiative aims to foster greater public participation in governance, ensuring that developmental concerns are addressed efficiently through direct engagement with the administration.
