Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Thomas A Sangma informed that both the political parties submitted applications as separate entities.
“The office is examining the matter,” Sangma said when asked about the status of ‘leader of Opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
He further said, “I have received applications from the Congress and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) but the third Voice of the People Party (VPP) has not submitted any kind of indication to be part of the opposition, I have only received applications from both the parties.”
With both All India Trinamool Congress and Indian National Congress securingfive seats each in the recently concluded Assembly election, the question arises who will be the ‘Leader of opposition’ in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
