B L Santhosh, BJP general secretary Organisation on Wednesday said whoever wanted to politically decimate BJP Vice president and South Tura MDC, Bernard Marak should be taught the same lesson whoever it may be.
Stating that political wars should be fought politically, they should not be taken to personal level to harm somebody’s life; Santosh compared the incident of Bernard Marak with that of Amit Shah , who in 2010 was arrested and sent to jail.
The BJP National General Secretary said, “In 2010-11, the Congress party tried to do the same to Amit Shah. They even sent him to jail. Now you know where Amit Shah is and where these people that tried to target him are? I assure you that in the same way, whoever tried to decimate Marak should be taught the same lesson, whoever it may be.”
He asked the BJP volunteers in Tura, “Should we not take revenge? We will not take revenge democratically, politically this election.”
In the clash of the Titans, Meghalaya BJP vice president Bernard Marak, who has been released from jail on bail, will contest the upcoming assembly elections in the state against chief minister Conrad Sangma from South Tura Constituency.
Bernard has been vocal in highlighting the irregularities of the NPP led MDA Government, where BJP is also a partner.
Known to be the Talent spotter, trouble-shooter, organisation builder—senior BJP leader B L Santosh wears many hats with equal ease. However, for Meghalaya, his skills in finding winnable factors during election will prove important.
Santosh is being sent to Tura to formulate the election road map for the party in Garo Hills, as well as to strategise the electioneering for the party.
He chaired the party’s Core Committee and Election management committee meeting at Hotel Orkid Polo Tower, Tura.
During his two day visit, the strategist of the saffron party met the party’s candidates and various Mondal heads and office bearers.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders, state unit President Ernest Mawrie and state prabhari M Chuba Ao.
Santosh also met the BJP aspiring candidates from Garo Hills.
With just a month left for the poll, Santosh is tasked to mend the party which has been in the news for the wrong reason.
The meeting deliberated and discussed issues to be raised during the poll, sources informed.
As many as three sitting legislators from Garo Hills including one Independent joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in December. Of these two legislators are from the ruling NPP. Following this big catch, BJP is giving its best to gain a few seats in Garo Hills. Four times MLA, Samuel Sangma is an Independent legislator from Baghmara constituency is considered heavy weight. Benedict Marak (Raksamgre) and Fairlene Sangma (Selsella) sitting MLAs from NPP have upheld the hope of the saffron party to make a space in Garo Hills.
One AITC legislator from Mawsynram (East Khasi Hills) Himalaya M Shangpliang too joined BJP taking the number to four.
