Women and Child Development Ministry Approves ₹6 Crore for Anganwadi Smartphone Initiative

Meghalaya’s Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Friday informed that the Ministry of Women and Child Development has sanctioned over ₹6 crore for the purchase of 6,162 smartphones to enhance service delivery by Anganwadi workers across the state.

“On behalf of the department of social welfare, I am pleased to announce the sanction of over six crore rupees of funding by the ministry of Women and Child Development for The purchase of 6162 smartphones for use of our beloved Anganwadi workers to improve our performance and services to the people of Meghalaya,” He said.

Highlighting the financial details, he added, “Each set costs over Rupees 10000/- and will be distributed to the workers by the end of April 20 25.”

 

The initiative is expected to significantly improve digital connectivity, streamline data collection, and strengthen grassroots implementation of various welfare schemes, ensuring more efficient and effective service to communities across Meghalaya.
