Meghalaya TMC MLA Zenith M Sangma lambasts the CM, says Conrad trampled the hope of youngsters.
The Grand finale of the Football tournament at Rangsakona constituency witnessed an enthralling fight between Chitmang Abri and Tura Abri, with the latter winning the tournament with 4 goals against 2. The finals were held at Rongbakgre Football field, with Rangsakona MLA Zenith M Sangma as the Chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion, Zenith M Sangma mentioned that the current government has indulged in scrapping the schemes that once helped the players to pursue their goals. He said, “I had initiated a scheme called District Sports Promotion Society (DSPS) to provide funds to the players who were unable to afford the basic needs. After Conrad’s government came into power, the scheme got scrapped leaving the players hopeless.”
“MLAs like me have been giving money from our own pockets to the players and sports associations ever since the government trampled their hopes” he added.
The TMC leader also stated that better opportunities should be given to the players who excel in the game. He said, “By organizing such tournaments, the youth get energized that prevents them from becoming miscreants due to the peak of unemployment. TMC will make sure that the youngsters are motivated to be fruitful and productive. Therefore, I urge you to organize such tournaments in every village”
TMC MLA Zenith M Sangma appealed to the people of Garo Hills to come forward and help the young players shine and represent our country soon. The event was graced by the two prominent Garo Singers Monika Momin and Walseng Sangma with their remarkable performances, leaving the people of Rangsakona cherished.
