Zenith tore into CM Conrad Sangma: says he was on very shaky ground

Former Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party leader Dr. Mukul Sangma  on Wednesday addressed a massive gathering at Rajabala Higher Secondary School.

He was accompanied by his brother and Rangsakona MLA, Zenith Sangma, former Speaker, AT Mondal as well as the South Salmara MLA, Wazed Ali Choudhury was present along with the party’s candidate, Hasina Yasmin Mondal.

Addressing the gathering, the Congress Legislative Party Leader DR. Mukul Sangma slams the NPP led MDA Government for lawlessness. Even as he slam the ruling front on the development issues.

During his speech at Rajabala, Mukul said that the NPP government has stepped into one folly after another and was unable to find its ground when it comes to development. This, he said, was the reason people are keen to show their rejection of the current government by voting for congress.

“This government has not even come up with any new projects. Even the schemes we sanctioned during our tenure have failed to progress further because of the current government. There is frustration all around,” says Mukul Sangma.

While, addressing a massive gathering, tore into the chief minister, Conrad Sangma stating that he was on very shaky ground.

“He (Conrad Sangma)has been rejected twice in Selsella for not working for the people of his constituency. In 2005, he lost the elections. Then in 2008, Selsella gave him a chance hoping he would bring the change he promised. His loss in 2013 shows that people of Selsella rejected him for not keeping his promises,” said Zenith.

Zenith alleged that Conrad has now found himself on very shaky ground and is looking for a new constituency to contest from.

Conrad represents the South Tura constituency.

“The people of South Tura chose him because he was already a CM. They thought that he would bring change as well as it was a privilege to them for him to represent them. How disappointed they were. We hear he is now once again trying the Selsella seat or will go to Kharkutta. That is his position now,” alleged Zenith.
Seeking vote for the Congress candidate from Rajabala, Zenith accused the NPP of being lazy and depending only on money to buy votes in the coming by-polls.

“Those politicians who don’t want to work for the people, are lazy and don’t have the capacity to work, those are the ones that rely on money to win elections. If they win, please remember they will never look at you as they have bought your votes,” said Zenith while asking voters to choose wisely.

He also warned that militancy seems once again to be coming back after it was apparently ended by the Congress led MUA government.

“The then CM, Mukul Sangma, worked hard to end militancy and bring peace. However recently there are small groups that are re-forming. To end such untoward acts from forming, the Congress needs to be back,” the Rangsakona legislator said.

Local leader, Dr Mizanur Rehman Kazi expressed his confidence in the Congress win from Rajabala. Addressing the crowd, Kazi asked as to whether CM, Conrad had ever visited to thank the people of Rajabala for giving him the biggest mandate of the constituencies during the MP elections.

“He is now camped in the constituency for the past week just because of elections. Similar is the case of Agatha. This only shows that we are only votes to them,” he said.
On NPP candidate Abdus Saleh, Kazi said the former minister and 3 time MLA was absent when the people needed him the most.

“In the 3 terms when he was MLA from Mahendraganj, we never saw his face but now he wants your vote. When there were floods and people suffered, he didn’t even come to see the plight of the people. It seems our relationship is only for votes,” he added.
He further added that the NPP did not have any agenda for discussion and that was why they were trying to divide the people of Rajabala into communal lines.
“There is no talk of development. Our agenda is that we want a local person from Rajabala to represent us so that he or she can work for us,” added Kazi.

Assam MLA, Choudhury blamed the BJP and by extension, the NPP for the situation the country was in now.
Congress Candidate from Rajabala  Hasina Yasmin Mondal asked the people to vote for her to ensure the incomplete work of her late husband, Dr Azad Zaman while promising to work hard for the people.
