Abhishek Banerjee Hold Massive Padyatra Amid Massive Show Of Strength In South Tura

All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday participated in the padyatra organised by its Garo Hills unit from the Hawakhana Petrol Pump to Tura Bazar area. Thousands of people attended this padyatra, following which a massive public meeting was also organised at South Tura constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Banerjee assured the people that TMC’s 10 Pledges for Meghalaya would be implemented within three months of forming the government.

Urging the people to think before choosing between a true leader and a shameless puppet on February 27, Abhishek Banerjee asked the people to vote for their own better future.

“We have promised to implement MYE Card and WE Card. All unemployed youth will get Rs 1,000 per month in their bank accounts once TMC is voted to power. Women will not have to ask for help anymore. Once TMC comes to power on March 2, we will pass the WE Card Scheme in the first cabinet meeting itself and ensure that the woman member of every household receives financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month and Rs 12,000 annually. I promise to implement all the 10 pledges within three months of coming to power,” AITC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said during the public meeting in Tura Bazar.

Slamming the MDA Government’s failure to generate employment for the youth, Meghalaya TMC Legislature Party Leader Dr. Mukul Sangma said, “Our youth has been deceived and robbed of their opportunities.”

He further added that not a single government-sanctioned vacancy was filled in the last five years which has caused intense distress among the youth of Meghalaya. Cornering the MDA-Himanta Biswa Sarma nexus and the ongoing Assam-Meghalaya border issue, Dr. Sangma said, “Assam’s Chief Minister dictated and imposed it [the MoU] and the CM of Meghalaya signed it, even though the people of the state did not accept it. If the government runs by those in power in Assam and Delhi, Meghalaya’s hardearned statehood will become futile,” he added.

The event was attended by Trinamool Congress Legislature Party Leader and Leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma, State In-Charge Dr. Manas Ranjan Bhunia, Meghalaya TMC candidate from South Tura Richard M Marak, Meghalaya TMC candidate from North Tura Rupert M Sangma, Meghalaya TMC candidate and MLA from Chokpot Lazarus M Sangma, Meghalaya TMC State Mahila President Selma D Shira, and Meghalaya TMC State General Secretary Mukul Das among other leaders.
