National People’s Party leader Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday claimed that the vote share of the party is much higher compared to the other political parties in the Khasi – Jaintia Hills.
Speaking to reporters, Dhar said “Yes we may get less number of MLAs but in vote share, we got more compared to the other political parties. Our vote share stands at 27% plus while the UDP is at 25% plus.”
“This itself shows that we (NPP) are accepted by the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills,” he said.
The Congress had alleged that the NPP was rejected by the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills after winning only 8 seats in the recently concluded Assembly elections in the state.
Dhar however said that the party is still conducting a post mortem examination of the election and the exercise will be completed within 3-4 months.
Meanwhile, the deputy chief minister expressed confidence that the NPP will win the Sohiong seat.
“I will ensure our candidate should win. Obviously if we get ne more seat it will be good for us,” he said.
