UDP to take up reservation policy & roster system with CM Conrad Sangma

The United Democratic Party President Matbah Lyngdoh on Wednesday said the party leaders will meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma after his return to the state to discuss the crucial issue of reservation policy and the roster system.

Acknowledging the concern of the people, the UDP Chief said the party will play a constructive role as it is the Government who has to take a call in this regard.

“As far as this reservation policy and the roster system is concern, I would like to make it very clear, we are part of the Government, we are waiting for the chief Minister to return to the state and once he is back here, we will be meeting him and discuss with him the reservation and roster system,” Lyngdoh said.

Stating that the matter is very sensitive, the UDP supremo said it is necessary to be very careful dealing with any kind of issue that is delicate in nature.

“We have to approach in a very matured manner and so that the expectation that you are looking at for solving the issue can be achieved. We will play a constructive role, being part of the government so we will address the issue with the Government because at the end of the day it is the Government who has to take a call,” Lyngdoh said.

Further, the former Speaker said, “So there is no point in shouting for us, it has to be on the right platform, for us what we felt right now is that meeting with the chief minister will be the right platform to address the issue and the concern.”
