181 cases have been registered against drug traffickers in Meghalaya

State Director General of Police (DGP) Dr LR Bishnoi on Friday informed that during the last one year, a total 181 cases have been registered against drug traffickers and over 224 people including 37 young girls and young ladies have been arrested.

 

Of these, 68 people are from other states like Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

 

A total of 127 vehicles and 292 mobile phones were also seized.

 

“We have seized 11.6 kgs of heroin in last one year, 4600 kgs ganjas, 50,000 bottles of cough syrup, 42000 yaba tablets and 47,000 of other psychotropic substance. These seizures speak volumes of the magnitude of the problem here,” the DGP said.

 

“We have waged a war against drugs. Our sustained crackdown will continue unabated,” he said.
