The construction of the over 70 kilometre Dainadubi-Darugre-Williamnagar project is facing hurdles in the land acquisition process and forest clearance.
Deputy Chief Minister Incharge of PWD Roads, Prestone Tynsong has called on the meeting of the respective Deputy Commissioners and instructed them that the land acquisition proceeding should start.
Talking to reporters, Deputy Chief Minister Incharge of PWD Roads, Prestone Tynsong said the tendering process of the Dainadubi-Darugre-Williamnagar road is almost completed. This is sanctioned under Bharatmala project and NHIDCL is entrusted the responsibility to complete it.
“The road project from Dainadubi-Darugre-Williamnagar road which was sanction under the Bharatmala scheme and this was handed over to NHIDCL now is almost completed the tendering process and right now we have some issues relating to forest clearance , even some issues relating to the land,” Tynsong said.
He further added, “I called meeting today to resolve all these issues one is the forest issue and land issue where all the Deputy commissioners were part of it and we already instructed ultimately the Deputy Commissioners to make sure that the land acquisition proceeding starts also the issue of forest which has been pending with DFO has been directed to take it up and do all the formalities.”
Asked, he said, “The project is right from Dainadubi because we have two packages. It is more or less about 72 kms.”
Meanwhile, with NHIDCL the Deputy Chief Minister incharge of PWD also spoke about the repairing of Shillong Dawki road.
The project since inception has seen several hurdles.
“The NHIDCL is on the job for repairing the portion where it is totally damaged and totally deplorable, the entire stretch of Shillong Dawki road,” he added.
