Three persons have been convicted by the court for their involvement in sexually assaulting minor girls.
The District & Session Judge, West Garo Hills has sentenced one Nenggrik D Sangma to undergo 4 years simple imprisonment and fine of Rs 20,000 for the offence u/s 368 IPC and to 7 years simple imprisonment and fine of Rs 50,000 for the offence u/s 376 (i) IPC.
In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a further period of 3 months. Nenggrik has sexually assaulted a girl while she was returning home from school on June 2, 2017.
The Court of Special Judge (POCSO), West Garo Hills also sentenced Lukias G Momin to 6 months rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 60,000 for molesting a minor girl on February 18, 2016.
In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a further period of 6 months, for committing the offence of sexual harassment to the victim.
Meanwhile, the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), West Garo Hills has also sentenced Arindom Das to one and a half years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 for molesting a minor girl on May 16, 2016.
In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a further period of 6 months, for committing the offence of attempt to sexual assault.
