Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art 2×50 MVA, 132/33 KV Grid Substation, in Phulbari, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya.
This pioneering project represents a significant leap forward in fortifying the region’s power infrastructure and delivering a reliable energy supply.
The event not only marked a significant stride in the region’s power capabilities but also underscored MPTCL’s unwavering commitment to delivering reliable and efficient power supply to the residents of Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to all the dignitaries present, emphasizing the pivotal role of the developmental projects inaugurated that day.
In his address, the Chief Minister stated, “Today marks a significant event for our region as we inaugurate crucial developmental projects. The introduction of the largest substation in our area is a game-changer. In the past, despite having electricity, we faced issues of low voltage. With the inauguration of this new substation, our area will now receive voltage on par with other regions. This is a positive step towards ensuring consistent and improved electricity for our community.”
The inauguration ceremony, was also attended by Abu Taher Mondal, Minister-in-charge Power, Government of Meghalaya, Marcuise N. Marak, Minister in charge PHE, Government of Meghalaya, Agatha K Sangma, MP Tura, Shakliar Warjri, Minister in charge Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, along with key representatives from Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited, MPTCL.
On the same day, the foundation stone for the construction of Indoor Stadium at J.P. Higher Secondary School, Bholarbhita, West Garo Hills was also laid. Expressing his gratitude, the Chief Minister thanked the Sports Minister for securing 9 Crores for the construction of galleries and artificial turfs, contributing to the development of sports infrastructure in the region
