All India Bank Officers’ Confederation plans week-long series of nationwide campaigns

On the occasion of the 55th bank nationalisation day in India, the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), representing the collective voice of over 300,000 devoted bank officers, is planning a week-long series of nationwide campaigns and initiatives to promote awareness and garner support on the demands of bank employees.

“On this auspicious occasion, as we celebrate the 55th anniversary of the nationalisation of banks, it is disheartening to observe the indifference towards the legitimate demands of bank employees,” AIBOC general secretary Rupam Roy said in a statement.

“Issues such as a five-day workweek, inadequate compensation for officers and employees, non- appointment of Officer and Employee directors and other reasonable demands appear to be ignored, undermining the banking community’s dedication and hard work,” he said.

He said that the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation urges policymakers, regulators, and other interested parties to recognise the invaluable contributions of public sector banks and their employees.

“Addressing their legitimate demands and ensuring their well-being is essential to preserving the nationalisation ethos and fortifying our financial sector for a prosperous future,” Roy said while calling on the banking community, the government, and all stakeholders to unite, collaborate, and construct a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient banking system that serves the best interests of our nation and its citizens.
