Minister in-charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, A.L Hek informed that the department has sent a proposal to the finance department for construction of check health center in Byrnihat Ri-bhoi district.
This was informed after the meeting with Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Ri-bhoi who has met the minister to follow up with regard to the project.
Speaking to media persons, Hek said “We have already moved the sanction to the finance department as we want to implement the Check Health Center immediately but until and unless we get the sanction we cannot take up the work and we cannot call for Tender”.
Hek informed that earlier the department had sent a proposal of more than Rs 4 crores but due to the delay in sanctioning, the department is currently seeking Rs 1.5 crore to start the health check center on phase wise basis.
He informed that presently the department utilizes the market areas in Ri-bhoi district to check the health of livestock brought from outside the state.
He added that previously the department had conducted an inspection and had also identified the place to construct the health check center.
“The check health center will act as a shelter for all livestock with proper water facility, doctors from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department” he added.
