Bollywood and Bhojpuri film star Ravi Kishan on Monday said BJP will come up with a ‘Film City’ in Meghalaya if voted to power in Meghalaya.
The election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is scheduled to be held on February 27.
Addressing media in Shillong, Kishan stated that Meghalaya has potential to push for better infrastructure in order to help local talents, especially budding filmmakers.
Kishan who has acted in more than 700 films claimed that Meghalaya has plenty of talents be it in acting, music, singing but the state till date lacks proper platform to talented youths to showcase their talents.
Kishan asserted that Meghalaya especially Shillong is known as ‘Rock capital of India’ hence quality infrastructures and platforms are needed for the people of the state to showcase their talents in various disciplines.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen to come up with a Film City in Meghalaya and in this film city other infrastructure such as National School of Drama will be built to train the people especially filmmakers and actors of the state” said Kishan.
Kishan said that once BJP comes to power, the state government will come out with a film policy which will pave the way for the film institute in the state and this institute will be able to provide platforms for local youths to pursue their career in acting and other disciplines.
He added that the film industry has enough potential to cater to the rise of unemployment as youths who are not in acting or film making can be employed in other departments like lighting, fashion designing, make-up artist and many more.
