Cabinet approves amendment of Meghalaya Telecom Infrastructure Policy

To facilitate expedite the 5G rollout in the State and strengthen the internet facilities, the Meghalaya cabinet approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Telecom Infrastructure Policy (MTIP).

Addressing the Media, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said this will help to amend the Right of Way rules for telecom infrastructure in the State. He said that the policy was in place way back in 2018.

However, the state government has to make few changes and additions in line with the National policy of the Government of India.

“Changes are made in a few issues like, Right of Way rules,” Tynsong said.

It may be mentioned that to move towards digital inclusivity, the Meghalaya government is set to revolutionize internet accessibility across the state, ensuring high-speed connectivity in even the remotest corners by 2025.

The telecom industry embarks on a transformative journey with the Telecommunications Act 2023, paving the way for seamless 5G access, user protection, and infrastructure growth and more to expect in 2024.
