DC prohibits unauthorized collection from commercial & other establishments; asks shop keepers to install CCTV’s

The East Khasi Hills district administration on Thursday has prohibited unauthorized collection from commercial and other establishments in the district and immediate legal action shall follow on any reports or detection(s) to this effect.

In an order passed, Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah, has directed the shop keepers to install CCTV’s in their premises in appropriate location in the interest of ensuring safety and security and also due coverage of illegal activities in their respective premises.

The order said that there are expressed grievances against unauthorised collection from shop owners, business/commercial establishments under the pretence of donations or serving demand notes which has caused great inconvenience to the owner of those commercial establishments and has also created a fear psychosis in general.

 

“Any collection across East Khasi Hills District which are not authorized by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong or by any other Competent Authority of Government are deemed unlawful. Any permission so authorised by the Undersigned are valid for a certain and specific purpose, within a given time period,” the order stated.

 

“Shop keepers have been directed to install CCTV’s in their premises in appropriate location in the interest of ensuring safety and security and also due coverage of illegal activities in their respective premises,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

 

“Now, therefore, I . Smti. R. M. Kurbah IAS, District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong in exercise of power conferred upon me Under Section 144 CrPC with a view to prevent such illegal practice do hereby prohibit all such unauthorised collection from commercial and other establishment and immediate legal action shall follow on any reports or detections) to this effect In view of the urgency of the matter, this Order has been passed ex-parte and it shall come into force with immediate effect in the entire District of East Khasi Hills District until further order,” Kurbah said.
