Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor on Sunday said the respective District administration has taken cognizance of the videos that are being circulated on Social media regarding some of the candidates and their polling agents are trying to woo voters with cash and liquor.
“We have taken note of it and all those videos that are being circulated are taken cognizance by the respective District Administration,” Kharkongor said.
In an incident, the NPP candidate and Bajengdoba MLA Ponseng Marak was in a face-off with a furious mob that blocked his convoy on suspicion of attempting to influence voters with cash and liquor. The incident took place at Songmegam locality in Bajendoba on Saturday night.
In another incident at Dalu constituency, supporters of BJP candidate Akki A Sangma were caught allegedly distributing money to the villagers on Saturday night. Reportedly, over Rs 1.74 lakh were seized from their possession.
