DGP to connect with public every Thursday

Director General Of Police , Meghalaya Idashisha Nongrang will hold three-hour public grievance meetings every week with an aim to bring Police closer to the public.

The exercise was meant to know and address the shortcomings in the services and change the perception of the people to the police.

Talking to the Media, Nongrang said, “ Talking about the immediate challenges I would say is like the perception that the Meghalaya Police is hostile to the people, let me put it very bluntly, correct that perception and to ensure that police are there to help you.”

The DGP said the meeting will be held  at the police headquarters to address the grievances of the people every Thursday.

“Infact we would be having an open house every week, one day of the week , most probably on Thursday from 11 am to  2 pm”, She added.

“Anybody can walk in who wants to meet the DGP, I will meet them personally and give them a hearing. Other days ofcourse they have to take an appointment,” the DGP added.

. Idashisha Nongrang, A 1992 batch IPS officer became the first women DGP of Meghalaya. Nongrang will serve as the post for a fixed tenure of two year from May 20, 2024, until May 19, 2026.
