The General council meeting of the People Democratic Front or PDF will decide on the party’s merger with the NPP.
As per the party sources, the General council meeting will be held this month, most likely after the Sohiong polls.
Interesting as per the inside sources, the PDF has reportedly kept few conditions before NPP.
The party sources said that the conditions are only discussed verbally with the NPP leadership, however, this has reportedly led to the delay in merger.
Meanwhile, National People’s Party (NPP) national president Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said his party is waiting for the People Democratic Front (PDF) to take a decision on the proposed merger with the NPP
“We have been engaging with them and we have been discussing with them about the possibility,” Sangma said.
He said, “I am told the PDF is having a central executive committee meeting as we speak…and post that they will have a general council meeting so I think PDF leaders will be in a better position to tell you what the decision they are taking.”
When asked, Sangma said, “As of now we are only discussing the matter so we will wait for the decision that they take and accordingly decide on how to move forward.”
PDF is currently having two legislators – Banteidor Lyngdoh from Mawkynrew and Gavin M Mylliem from Sohra constituency.
