JAC warns to approach High Court against NEHU VC

The  Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the NEHUTA, NEHUNSA and NEHUSU today warned that it might approach the Meghalaya High Court against the vice chancellor (VC) of North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) alleging him of violating the UGC Model CRR (Cadre Recruitment Rules)

Speaking to media persons, chairman of the JAC Prof Lakhon Kma came down heavily on the VC on his stand that the appointment of Rohit Prasad as Technical Consultant of the university was done after following all necessary recruitment norms.

Prof Kma alleged that the VC is trying to shield his flaw in appointing Prasad as Technical Consultant of the university by reading out a baked clause of the UGC Model CRR in order to mislead the stakeholders of the university and the public of Meghalaya at large.

“We have decided to write to the President of India and the Governor of Meghalaya to complaint against the gross violation of UGC Model CRR by the VC and tomorrow the 9 of November the JAC will sit and chalk out our next course of action on how to go ahead with our agitation including steps to approach the court for addressing their grievances” said Prof Kma.

Prof Kma alleged that in the last press conference the VC had quoted clause 6 b of the UGC Model CRR to stake claim that the appointment of Prasad as Technical Consultant was genuine as it was approved by the executive council of the university.

“The quotation made by the VC is half baked as the UGC Model CRR clearly stated that appointment should be done only by the Selection Committee after advertisement for the same has been published in newspaper” , he added.
