JP Nadda calls for ‘Corruption Free Meghalaya’

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Tuesday pledges to make Meghalaya corruption free. Asserting that the state is facing obstacles while moving forward toward the development path, Nadda said BJP has decided to make Meghalaya Corruption free.

“Due to corruption, Meghalaya is not able to move forward smoothly and that’s why the BJP has decided we will make Corruption Free Meghalaya and we will move forward in this direction,” Nadda said while addressing his first political rally in Shillong.

Nadda during his two day visit to Shillong addressed a rally in West Shillong to boost the party campaign in the forthcoming assembly election.

Taking a dig at the ruling NPP in the state, the BJP national President said, “If the right button is clicked it will lead to development, if the wrong button is clicked it will lead to corruption.”

Slamming TMC, he said, “These people are the people who do politics by dividing the society. These are the people who are destroying the culture here.”

The BJP chief said the last 8 years have seen unprecedented development in the Northeast.

“Meghalaya has its own history, its own culture and the state on its own is trying to walk in the path of development, but it is also true that amongst the North-eastern states there has been a completion for development after PM Narendra Modi came to power, “the BJP leader said.

“In this competition for development it’s our endeavour to ensure all the state should move forward,” he added.

He said infrastructure development of over Rs 9 lakh crore has been invested over the last eight years. Under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) Rs 3,400 crore is invested.

He also said, India is having the fastest growing economy in the world. While giving examples of Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Nadda said it clearly shows the impact of wrong decisions.

With two weeks remaining until the Assembly elections in Meghalaya, Political parties are pulling their big shots to campaign in the state.

The party is hopeful of touching the double digit mark. The BJP poll manifesto will be released on February 15, 2023.
