Nadda asks about railways projects but silent on ILP or influx issues

Amidst the tremendous pressure from the Centre for implementation of the railway projects in Meghalaya, the BJP Nation President asked the people of Shillong ‘Are the works on railways going on?’, while people in the state want to know more about their apprehension concerning influx.

“Are the works on National Highways going on? Are the works on airways going on? Are the works on railways going on? That’s why we have initiated the work to strengthen the infrastructure in the state,” Nadda said.

It may be mentioned that the Centre has proposed two railway projects in the state – the 22 km Tetelia-Byrnihat tracks and the 108 km Byrnihat-Shillong line.

The Tetelia-Byrnihat project will be implemented at a cost of Rs 496 crore. However, these projects have faced roadblocks due to strong opposition from different quarters apprehending influx.

Although, the BJP National President during his rally was ‘Mum’ on issues of Influx or ILP, he was rather boosting the NDA Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his development initiatives.
