The executive committee (EC) led by chief executive member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pyniaid Sing Syiem today inspects the Khasi Heritage Village to follow up on the preparation of the much awaited Monolith Festival 2023.
The CEM was accompanied by chairman of the KHADC Lamphrang Blah and executive member (EM) in-charge of Arts and Culture Victor Rani, officials of the Hima Mawphlang and officers from various departments of the state government.
Speaking during the inspection, Syiem informed that the state government through the department of Tourism had sanctioned Rs 4 crores to the district council and the district council had sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs from its own to organize the Monolith Festival 202.
While expressing his satisfaction on the progress, Syiem said there are few works that need to be done including renovation of the traditional hut in the Heritage Village in Mawphlang, the footpaths and the children park.
He added that the PWD (Roads) department had also sanctioned Rs 4 crores to renovate the road from Mawngap up to Mawphlang leading to the Traditional Village.
“The inspection is to follow up the preparation of the up-coming Monolith Festival 2023 and after seeing the preparation, I can say that the EC of the KHADC is happy with the progress” said Syiem.
