The Excise Department has generated Rs 362.36 crores revenue in FY 2022-23.  Informing this, Minister Incharge of Excise Kyrmen Shylla said the department is expecting to generate over 400 hundred crore this financial year.

Talking to Meghalaya News 24, Shylla said, “The revenue generation recently which we collected for the year 2022-23 is Rs 362.36 crores, this is the revenue generation. We are expecting in 2023-24 it should be over 400 crore, that is our expectation and we believe we will perform well.”

In the post Covid scenario, the revenue generation has improved drastically, with various measures taken up by the Government to avoid revenue leakage.

The excise Minister is hopeful that with the dedication of the Excise department, the revenue generation in next year will increase drastically.

Asked, he said, “We will try to find if there is any leakage, if there is any possible where we can increase revenue generation, we will try but it seems with the revenue generation of 2023- 24 if we continue to perform like this it will cross over Rs 400 crore.”
