Amid Manipur unrest, NPP National President and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday has appealed to all concerned to work together and find a peaceful and long lasting solution to end the violence in Manipur.
Admitting that there is much more to be done, there are a lot of steps to be taken politically as well as from the Administration side, the NPP National president said it’s not the time to blame anybody.
“Yes, there is much more to be done. I don’t disagree with that. There is a lot of work to be done. In fact a lot of steps have to be taken politically also and from the administration side also but I don’t think blaming anybody will really add or resolve the problem out here,” Sangma said.
Stating that this is not the time to blame anybody for the situation in Manipur, Sangma said, “If you notice we have not been blaming anybody. We have simply been saying that we need to take steps. It is a very complicated matter. You have to understand. It is very easy for you to say blame this and blame that. One has to understand the background of how things happened and the complication in which decisions had to be taken.”
It may be mentioned that the NPP won seven seats in the 2022 Manipur polls and pledged its support to the BJP-led government in the state of Manipur.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has proposed to both union health minister and union agriculture minister that Meghalaya students studying in RIIMS and in the CAU, Imphal can be relocated in any campus outside Manipur for a period of one year.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said the State delegation led by him had met the union health minister and union agriculture minister during their visit to New Delhi yesterday.
“We had proposed to both of them (central ministers) that the students who are studying in RIIMS and in the CAU, Imphal, if for one year they can be provided space or a slot here in Shillong either in RIIMS for the medical or anywhere closer in the NE and in the Barapani campus of CAU, where the students of agriculture can come for at least one year,” he said..
He said, “We got a very positive response from the minister but a decision has not been taken. I think the decision will be taken with the home minister and other cabinet ministers but both the ministers were very positive and they said yes it was a very good suggestion and we will positively examine.
