Several low lying areas submerged under water in parts of Shillong – the capital of Meghalaya and the adjoining areas.
Just few minutes of rainfall and the chaotic situation arises in Shillong. The water logging after heavy rainfall has caused great inconvenience to people, particularly the office goers.
The affected areas are lower Jail Road, Polo and MES area near Gora Line, Laitumkhrah. The situation in other parts of the town was not welcoming.
Water logging triggered by heavy rain was reported from places like Lower Lachumiere . The water logging in several parts of Shillong in Meghalaya have thrown normal life out of gear.
Absence of proper drainage system in the city and several potholes in the city made the situation worst.
There was also severe traffic jam in the town has caused frustration to the commuters.
As per IMD, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The weather department also predicted hailstorms accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty wind at isolated places over Assam, and Meghalaya, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura
