Meghalaya Govt exploring avenues to enhance power connectivity and availability

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday met the officials of the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited.

The meeting was to explore avenues to enhance power connectivity and availability in the State.

Informing about this, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “Bridging the gap in energy distribution with professional approach is crucial for a brighter and sustainable future. We are committed to power up Meghalaya with reliable, accessible, and clean energy.”

The High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday termed the quantum of deficit of power in the state at over 50 per cent as being “completely unacceptable”.

The order came during a hearing of a PIL by social activist, Flaming B Marak, on the continued power cuts in the state which in many cases exceeded 12 hours a day. It was heard in the Court of the Chief Justice, Sanjib Bhattacharya and judge W Diengdoh.
