Meghalaya Govt identifies 7 localities for implementation of MRSSA, 2016

The state Government has identified seven localities under Shillong Urban area to implement Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) on pilot basis.

 Though the question on MRSSA, 2016 couldn’t be taken up in the Assembly, the reply page says that the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) is operational in its original form.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in the reply to a starred question tabled in the Assembly said, the measures taken by the government to implement the Act includes constitution of district task force in all districts and the launching of webportal https//megrssa.nic.in/ to allow landlords to furnish information on the tenants as per the provisions of the MRSSA, 2016.

As many as seven localities of Shillong viz Nongrim Hills, Pohkseh, Nongrah, Nongmensong, Lapalang, Riat Laban and Wahdienglieng are selected  on pilot basis under Shillong Urban area for the implementation of the project in the first phase.

For this, training and capacity building of headmen and their support staff on how to make entries in the web portal has been conducted by the deputy commissioner, East Khasi Hills.
