Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Power Prestone Tynsong on Friday said the revenue generation of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) may touch Rs 100 crore monthly.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “We are trying our best to improve the revenue generation of the MeECL every month and it will be able to reach Rs 100 crore.”
He said the MeECL is spending over Rs 150 crore monthly against the revenue generation of Rs 75 crore.
Tynsong said that the corporation has to also clear its outstanding on a monthly basis as the state still has to purchase power from different CPSUs.
“We need to clear the outstanding as we want to take care that regulation (of power) does not take place,” he said.
The deputy CM said as of now the government has from time to time bailed out the MeECL.
“However, all these issues are being seriously examined. Now we do have a CMD who has recently taken over. He is working day and night to find out how to increase the revenue generation also,” he said.
