Meghalaya health Minister seeks details on alleged negligence by NEIGRIHMS

Minister in-charge of health Ampareen Lyngdoh today informed that she had sought a detail report on the alleged negligence by North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) which led to the demise of one patient who underwent treatment in the hospital.

Speaking to media persons, Lyngdoh said that she does not want to mislead the people on the unfortunate incident hence she will first seek and thoroughly study the report before giving any comments.

Lyngdoh said that though NEIGRIHMS is a central institute yet the state government acts as the eyes and ears and the voice of the people and when such an unfortunate incident occurs, the government will report to the central government for intervention.

“It is no doubt an unfortunate incident but as minister in-charge of health, I do not want to comment without first going through the report for those in-charge of NEIGRIHMS hence I had sought a full report on the incident and once I receive the report, I will inform to you” said Lyngdoh.

It may be noted that on 24 January morning, the hospital came under scrutiny for alleged medical negligence when a 23-year-old patient reportedly died from unknown causes which led to the family members expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that surgery was performed on the patient without obtaining consent or informing them about the sickness.
