Metbah Lyngdoh was on Saturday re-elected as the President of the United Democratic Party. The UDP nomination committee headed by Titosstarwell Chyne, the former CEM Of KHADC has unanimously proposed the name of Metbah Lyngdoh as the president of UDP which was approved by the General Council.
In the UDP general council meeting held on Saturday, Dr Jemino Mawthoh is reelected as the party ‘s general secretary, while B.G. Momin became the adviser of the party.
Re-elected Party President Metbah Lyngdoh informed that the tenure will be for three years.
Speaking to Media, the re-elected UDP Chief said, “The nomination committee as per the constitution of the party sat today only, during a short break and discussed, bringing out the names and proposed the same to the General council for its consent and approval, which we have done this under the chairmanship of the person elected by the nomination committee Titosstarwell Chyne.”
Talking about the General council meeting, Lyngdoh said, “ Today we had the General Council meeting after the period of four years, the term of three years ended last year from 2019-2022 but because of the General election which had in 2023, because of the preparation so last year the party decided that we will postpone the General Council.”
“We had a successful, meaningful and fruitful general council,” he added.
The UDP Chief further informed that the reports on various activities were received from different districts as well as the frontal wings of the party.
As many as 8 working presidents were elected including cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh who retained the post.
UDP legislators Lakmen Rymbui, Nujorki Sungoh, Renikton Tongkhar, three others including Titosstarwell Chyne, Donbok Khymdeit and L.C Momin are elected as the working presidents.
There are 4 vice presidents which include Allantry F Dkhar, Process Sawkmie, Shitlang Pale and Mayralborn Syiem.
9 secretaries and 4 joint secretaries beside others are also elected
Lasky Rymbai, Jambor War, Balajied Ranee, Mitchell Wankhar, Winning Sungoh, GG Bung Snaitang, Dr Aman War, Teinwell Dkhar and Monarch Shabong were elected as secretaries.
Ryngkat Lyndem, Sunshine Makri, Anvil Lyngdoh, Tirot Sing Suchiang are elected as joint secretaries.
Legislator and cabinet Minister Kyrmen Shylla is elected as the president of the Youth Wing of UDP, while legislator Balajied Synrem becomes the secretary.
Others who were elected includes Michael War elected as Finance Secretary, Markynsai Khongwir as Joint Finance Secretary, Beyondstar Kurbah became the Treasurer,
Pretty Kharpyngrope is made the president of the Women’s Wing, while Wandashisha Rynjah becomes the secretary.
Legislator Ollan Sing Suin became the President of the farmer wing of the UDP , legislator Synshar Roy Lyngdoh Thabah became the secretary and Remington Pyngrope as Joint Secretary.
