Some unknown miscreants on Wednesday morning burnt down a police vehicle parked inside Mawlai Police Station at the wee hours.
The incident occurred between 2:40 am.
Five unknown miscreants entered inside the parking campus of Mawlai police station and hurled petrol bombs on a police gypsy vehicle (ML 02 0194) as a result of which the vehicle caught fire and suffered major damage, East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi said.
A case has been registered with the Mawlai police station under sections 35 (04) 2024 u/s120B/307/427/436/34 IPC R/W Sec. 3 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
The SP said that investigation is on to nab the culprits behind the incident.
Police have registered a case and the investigation is on.
