The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH) has developed Ayurveda cookies in collaboration with Indian Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong for pregnant women.
The cookies are made with special herbs which will help in normalizing digestive fire amongst the pregnant women.
Informing this, Dr. Neeta Mahesekar, Director of North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) said, “North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH) developed I being a gynaecologist I was involved in that cookie in collaboration with IHM . So they prepared the cookie under our direction and herbs and the rest of the things we have managed with them.”
“ I shared the standard operating procedure (SOPs) with the nodal centre that is All India Institute of Ayurveda, so that everybody will be benefited from this,” she added.
The NEIAH director also informed that since during pregnancy people want to have cookies, this will be beneficial because this is a new innovation.
“I develop only with one herb which is very safest throughout the pregnancy, there are different regiments of pregnancy as per Ayurveda, one herb which is common Shatavari and one millet and cows ghee and cardamom to taste which is also a good digestive during pregnancy and not causing nausea and vomiting , so these all are very much beneficial for normalizing digestive fire and whatever the diet,” Dr. Mahesekar said.
She, further, informed that in the ancient times the focus was only on the diet and not giving any external supplement.
“So our aim is a natural organic thing through diet. The pregnancy should be maintained very peacefully and gracefully without any complications,” the Director said.
Asked, she said, “So in the near future we will be developing as we gain popularity, definitely we will be developing further. we need to prepare it now, this was an innovative things just to familiarize everyone what can be done through Ayurveda, that was an Ayurveda poshan maah.”
It may be mentioned, the 7th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated world-wide on October 23 under the theme “Har Din Har Ghar Ayurveda” meaning “Ayurveda Everyday Ayurveda Everywhere” which aims to disseminate the knowledge amongst the people about the importance of Ayurveda in leading a healthy life.
To celebrate the 7th Ayurveda Day various activities were organised from September 12 and it will conclude on October 23.
Keeping in view the theme of Ayurveda Day, activities were conducted under 3-Js – Jan Sandesh, Jan Bhagidari and Jan Aandolan activities on issues like Ayurveda for Holistic Health, Ayurveda for Millennials, Ayurveda Aahar (Grains, millets/Rules), Ayurveda for Senior Citizens, Ayurveda for Mental Wellbeing and Ayurveda- Sharing of Experiences were held.
