Not residents of Them Iew Mawlong, but Shillong Municipal Board will get ownership of relocation land

Asking the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) to refrain from politicizing the issue of allotment of additional 1.4 acres of land for the relocation of the residents of Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday said the land will not be transferred to these people rather will be handed over to the Shillong Municipal Board.

“Those leaders who criticize the decision taken by the Government, they are playing politics, it’s a political game only that they do and without knowing the reality, without knowing even the actual numbers of the residents of that place. So, I don’t want to debate, I don’t want to waste time with these kinds of issues which they raised,” Tynsong said.

He alleged that without knowing the ground reality some leaders tried to mislead people.

“When we said we need additional land of 1.4 acres means this land will not be transferred to these people, it should be transferred or handed over to Shillong Municipal Board. It does not belong to them, this land belongs to the Shillong Municipal Board, that’s why I am saying don’t play politics unnecessary, if you need clarification come and meet me, I will explain to you everything,” The Deputy Chief Minister said.

“You can’t just mislead people. I think enough is enough,” he added.
