Over 85.17 per cent of the 21.6 lakh electors in Meghalaya cast their votes on Monday; Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor said the voters turn out is without the postal ballot.
“The overall turnout was 85.17 % without postal ballot,” Kharkongor said.
Polling held for 59 Assembly constituencies in the state has been held yesterday while the election to Sohiong constituency has been adjourned due to the death of a candidate.
“If polls were held in Sohiong which is a rural AC with traditionally high voting , % could have touched 86% plus,” he added.
