Police are on job to investigate HNLC demand notes that have surfaced recently: Tynsong

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Thursday said the police are on the job to investigate the HNLC demand notes that have surfaced recently.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that prior to the formal peace talks, he had personally met the leaders of the HNLC and discussed all these issues because nowadays it is so easy even to issue a duplicate letterhead.

“Just few months back, some people received the demand notes. I had discussed with them (HNLC) and said you need to also be serious and take action in case anybody used your letterhead without the consent of the leaders. The HNLC had agreed to do that,” Tynsong said.

He said some of the leaders of the outfit had recently come out openly to clarify that the demand notes were not issued by the HNLC.

Tynsong said, “I am so happy till this moment that I am talking you HNLC are also serious about the peace talk that has just happened.”

He assured that “the police are on the job to find out who are the culprits and what is their intention? Is it to derail the peace talks between the government of India, state government and the HNLC or not?”

According to him, more meetings will be held with HNLC as part of the peace process. “I am very sure that very soon we will be able to resolve and reach a final conclusion,” he said.
