Rakkam assures to take with CM demand for another state university in Shillong

Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma has assured to take up with chief minister Conrad K Sangma the demand for setting up of another State University in the state capital Shillong.

Appreciating Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) for demanding State University in Shillong, the Minister said, “As a minister and as a stakeholder, we should be happy to see (such) things happen. Definitely I and as a department, we will find a way and see how things can be done. So certainly our CM, who is dynamic, will be happy to be on the same page with the dream of the HYC and youth of the state. Let us look forward as this is also my personal dream that Meghalaya should not have only a state university but a university of world class. Meghalaya is known as an educational hub of the country, that standard should live long. So we will find the way and let us keep our dream alive.”

The education minister informed that knowing the challenges of the state and in order to take the education sector of the state forward, the government had already decided to come up with a State University called the Captain Williamson Sangma State University in Tura, West Garo Hills District.
