SHILLONG, MAY 21: MLA of South Shillong constituency Sanbor Shullai informed that a proposal has already been sent for construction of Parking Lot at Laban Last Stop.
Speaking to media persons, Shullai informed that during the year 2001-2002, when the Smart City Project, was first introduced, he had convened a meeting with Dorbar Shnongs, NGOs and MCIC of South Shillong constituency.
“After several meetings, we have conducted joint inspection along with PWD, urban affairs and a proposal has been submitted for construction of parking facilities at Labaln Last Stop under Smart City projects” said Shullai.
Shullai also informed that an inspection was also conducted several times at Maxwelton Estate for construction of parking lot but upon inquiry, it was found that it is a disputed land, where case is going on in Meghalaya High Court.
“During the MDA I, we have sent a proposal for construction of a parking lot and public park cum recreation center and it has been also approved by the cabinet but in process, some group has filed the stay order from the Court as they have been served with eviction order” he added.
